Strategic use of the Image, Voice and Body Language

Objective

Everybody communicates on two levels, verbally and non-verbally. Non-verbal language, the expressive and strategic use of your voice and body language, represents over 50% of our total message. When inappropriately used, it can undermine the credibility of your verbal message. When used correctly, it has an impact on the outcomes of all international business communication.

The seminar covers the following aspects:

  • To what extent are dress, voice and body language– the mediums of your message in international business situations?
  • How should the audience and the objective of the presentation influence and/or determine my image, vocal style and body language?
  • To what extent do we need to adapt our style to meet the needs of an international audience?
  • What is the importance of dress/image in international business situations?
  • How is your voice created and what kind of voice do you have?
  • How do we adapt our voice to meet the communication preferences of an international audience?
  • How you use volume, pause, emphasis and articulation to enhance the clarity of your message?
  • The different types of body language?
  • What are positive body signals in international business situations?
  • What are the do's and taboos of image, voice and body language in international business situations?

Methods/Media

This highly interactive workshop will give the participants the opportunity to:

  • participate in facilitated discussion, debate and role plays
  • engage in pair work and group work
  • discover the expressive potential of their dress, voices and body language through creative exercises
  • learn from the experiences of the other participants through facilitated discussion
  • create checklists that can be used in the workplace
  • practice presenting ideas/ opinions in English
Language level required: Upper Intermediate (B2)
